Professionalism is key for Morgan as Leicester City see off London Bees

Leicester City manager Jonathan Morgan believes that his side must remain professional in every game if they are to be crowned FA Women’s Championship title winners come the end of the season.

The Foxes defeated London Bees 3-0 at Farley Way this afternoon as they moved to the top of the FA Women’s Championship table.

When speaking to FA Women’s Super League Full-Time after the match, Morgan said that taking a professional approach to every game could be the key to coming out on top in a division with so many twists and turns.

“There are four quality teams including Durham, Liverpool and Sheffield United and thankfully, we are up there with them at the moment” said Morgan. “Anyone can beat anyone in this league, that is the mindset that I keep setting the girls every week.

“No matter who we are playing it is recognised that on their day, they can cause us damage.

“We’ve got to keep ourselves professional, keep ourselves humble and keep our feet on the ground.

“We feel that if we continue to do that, we will be successful.”

Natasha Flint, Paige Bailey-Gayle and Mille Farrow were on the scoresheet for Leicester City against The Bees at Farley Way this afternoon and Morgan believes that we are now seeing his attacking players really gel as a collective unit.

He added “They are all pushing for starts every week causing me headaches which is all I can ask for really.

“We are starting to click upfront now as a unit, they are starting to understand each other’s movement and recognise little triggers in each other which is brilliant to see.

“We can just keep working on that and look to convert a few more of our chances.”

It was another fixture held behind-closed-doors for Leicester City with Farley Way falling within Tier 3 of the UK Government’s tiered system to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Morgan is hoping to see the fans return sooner rather than later and added that the club are working hard for when that day comes.

“Jade (Morgan) our general manager is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we are ready” Morgan said.

“Some of the work that she has done to get us into shape has been phenomenal. Like every other club, nobody is a specialist in this particular situation.

“We are looking forward to bringing fans back, hopefully when we play Sheffield, we will be ready to welcome them so they can cheer us on to another three points.”

Leicester City are next in action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Birmingham City in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
