PREVIEW: Arsenal v Everton

Arsenal will be looking to leapfrog London rivals Chelsea into second place in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table when they host Everton at Meadow Park on Sunday.

The Gunners have the opportunity to capitalise on the postponement of Chelsea’s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend and move into second position behind league leaders Manchester United.

Arsenal head coach Joe Montemurro is again expected to be without defensive duo Noelle Maritz and Viktoria Schnaderbeck who continue to recover from their respective knee injuries. Swiss international midfielder Lia Walti is thought to be back in training after recovering from concussion. The player sustained her injury whilst on international duty and has missed her club’s last two matches as a result but she could return against Everton. Defender Lotte Wubben-Moy is also expected to be available after overcoming recent illness.

Everton will welcome goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela back into the squad with the player having recovered from concussion. The Blue Girls remain without Gabby George, Rikke Sevecke, Claire Emslie and Valerie Gauvin, leaving manager Willie Kirk with a much-depleted squad once again.

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Everton at Meadow Park is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available for fans to watch live on the BBC Red Button and on the FA Player.
