Sheffield United boss Redfearn planning to make subtle additions to his squad

Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn is planning to make a couple of additions to his squad during the current transfer window.

The Blades resume their FA Women’s Championship campaign on Sunday with a fixture against league leaders Leicester City at Farley Way.  The match is a ‘must win’ for Redfearn’s side who trail The Foxes by seven points with just nine games remaining.

Redfearn has been speaking with Sheffield United’s official media channels ahead of the match and he has confirmed that he will be looking to add a couple of players to his squad this month. The South Yorkshire side were dealt a double injury blow just before Christmas with defender Ellie Wilson and midfielder Alethea Paul having both been ruled out of action for the remainder of the season with Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries.

United boss Redfearn has hinted that he will recruit to backfill for both of those absences while it would be no surprise to see him also add to his side’s attack should forward Melissa Johnson complete a potential move to FA Women’s Championship rivals Liverpool.

Sheffield United confirmed Redfearn’s intent to recruit during this month’s transfer window via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

January is a crucial month for The Blades as they look to eliminate memories of their pre-Christmas record of just one win in five league matches. Following Sunday’s trip to Leicester City, Redfearn’s side will host Coventry United before ending the month with the long trip to Lewes.
