Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Kirsty Barton has joined FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old has struggled for regular game time for The Seagulls so far this season and she has therefore agreed to go out on loan in a bid to get more minutes.
The move was discussed at this afternoon’s Brighton & Hove Albion press conference in which FA Women’s Super League Full-Time were present.
When speaking about the move, Albion boss Hope Powell said “Kirsty is a long-serving member of this club with 10 years of service.
“She has been a true ambassador for the club both on and off the pitch but sadly, she has got minimal minutes so far this season and really wanted to play because she isn’t 21 any more.
“I put the option to her and she was quite happy to go out on loan so that’s a really good move for her.”
Barton has made five appearances for Albion in all competitions this season while she has started just one Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture for the Sussex club.
The midfielder joins a Crystal Palace side who hold lots of potential and are building in every transfer window. Barton could make her Palace debut against London City Lionesses at Princes Park on Sunday afternoon.
