Attacking midfielder Bex Rayner has re-joined Sheffield United following a spell with third tier club Nottingham Forest according to reports on The Blades’ official website.
The 21-year-old was a member of the Sheffield United squad which made their FA Women’s Championship debut in 2018/2019, finishing their maiden second tier campaign in fifth position.
In her first spell as a Blade, Rayner netted four FA Women’s Championship goals in 17 outings while 15 of those league appearances came as starts.
Rayner joined Nottingham Forest in August 2019 and the youngster enjoyed an excellent season with the FA Women’s National League North club which ended with her being crowned The Tricky Trees’ Young Player of the Season. The midfielder has again impressed for Forest this season prior to securing her return to former club Sheffield United.
Upon re-joining The Blades, Rayner told the club’s official media channels “It’s really great to be back after 18 months away.
“I’m really excited to get going again and be back with the team. I feel like I’ve matured as a player.
“I was really young when I first arrived, but I feel ready now to play in a better league again and I’m excited, that’s the main feeling really.”
Rayner could be involved for The Blades when they travel to Farley Way to take on Leicester City in a crucial FA Women’s Championship clash on Sunday.
