Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell has acknowledged the good performances for young defender Ellie Hack during her loan spell at FA Women’s Championship club Lewes.
The 18-year-old joined The Rookettes on loan in August and she has gone on to appear in all 11 of Lewes’ league games, most recently playing 90 minutes as Simon Parker’s side recorded an excellent 1-1 draw with Durham at The Dripping Pan.
Speaking to FA Women’s Super League Full-Time about about Hack’s development at Lewes, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Powell said “She is doing well. The most important thing is that she plays and she is challenged at a higher level than what she was playing with the DCA.
“In terms of her learning and development, it is paramount.
“We are watching, she is doing well and we will see how she fares when she comes back.”
The Brighton & Hove Albion squad has been severely hit with injuries and players being made to self-isolate as a precautionary measure ahead of this afternoon’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Birmingham City. Powell has opted to recall Bethan Roe from her loan spell at Charlton Athletic to help bolster her numbers while the Albion boss went on to say that she could take some academy players with her to The Midlands.
When asked about the prospect of using some of the club’s academy players this weekend she said “Absolutely. From my perspective, it will be down to the coaching staff to determine whether they capable or good enough.
“It would do some players more harm than good if they are part of the squad and they then have to play so we will draw on those players who we feel have the capability to cope with first team football.”
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Birmingham City is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm and will be available for fans to watch live on the FA Player.
