Bristol City complete the loan signing of Reading defender Skeels

Bristol City have completed the signing of defender Kiera Skeels on a loan deal from Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Reading according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 20-year-old centre-back is rated highly by Royals boss Kelly Chambers but she has been made to wait for first team playing opportunities with the youngster having regularly occupied a place on the bench throughout the season so far.

Skeels is in need of first team playing experience and it has today been agreed that the player will move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League’s bottom club Bristol City until the end of the season. Skeels will provide competition at centre-back and will hope to play her part in helping The Robins battle to retain their top flight status.

Reading boss Chambers handed Skeels her senior debut for the club in last season’s 3-2 victory over Lewes at The Madejski Stadium in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. The player also featured in The Royals’ 6-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the same competition.

Skeels is still awaiting her first taste of Barclays FA Women’s Super League football, however, the player could make her Bristol City debut in their league fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion at Twerton Park on Saturday.
