Liverpool welcome Coventry United to Prenton Park on Sunday with The Reds looking end a run of three games without a win in the FA Women’s Championship.
The Merseyside club have seen themselves fall 10 points behind league leaders Leicester City in the quest to return to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League at the first time of asking, following last season’s relegation.
United on the other hand will be trying to secure only their third win of the campaign, in this tough away fixture for Jay Bradford’s side.
Liverpool won the reverse fixture at Butts Park Arena in October, coming out 2-1 winners, with Melissa Lawley and Amalie Thestrup scoring for The Reds, before Becky Anderson replied with a consolation goal for Coventry United. Bradford will be looking for her side to put up a strong defensive performance, similar to last week’s game against Lewes, where they restricted the sixth-placed team to only one goal, despite having the worst defensive record in the FA Women’s Championship.
It remains to be seen whether England international forward Rinsola Babajide features in the Liverpool squad with the player having wanted to leave the club last month. She missed out on interim coach Hege Riise’s first England squad selection this week.
Liverpool’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against Coventry United is scheduled to take place at 2pm on Sunday afternoon, although conditions at Prenton Park are being monitored. Should the game go ahead, it will be shown live on LFCTV GO, YouTube and on the LFC Women Facebook and Twitter accounts.
