Tottenham Hotspur teenager Esther Morgan has been drafted into the Welsh squad for this week’s international training camp.
The 18-year-old defender was not included in the initial 26-player squad which was announced last week but she has been brought in following the withdrawal of Manchester United’s Chloe Williams.
The Welsh Football Association, the FAW, confirmed Morgan’s late call-up via a post on their official Twitter account earlier today.

After representing Wales at various youth levels up to Under-19 level, Morgan received a first senior call-up to the national team back in November. The player was not involved in Wales’ 3-0 victory over Belarus in Newport in early December, the nation’s last competitive fixture.
Spurs duo Josie Green and Anna Filbey, who is on-loan at Celtic, were selected in the initial Welsh squad for this month’s training camp but Morgan missed out. She will now been keen to show Wales’ interim coaching group, led by FAW Technical Director David Adams, exactly what she can do after being called into the squad earlier today.
Wales do not currently have any friendly fixtures scheduled, however, this week’s training camp will be an important exercise as the nation look to prepare for the start of FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia/New Zealand 2023 qualifying later this year.
