Manchester United forward Ivana Fuso made her senior debut for Brazil as they defeated Argentina 4-1 in their opening SheBelieves Cup match this evening.
The 19-year-old joined The Red Devils last summer and she signed a two-year deal at The Leigh Sports Village. Ivana has made five appearances in all competitions for United so far this season.
After representing Germany at various youth levels, Ivana was called up to the senior Brazil squad last month ahead of the 2021 SheBelieves Cup. The player started tonight’s opening fixture against Argentina on the bench for The Female Canaries but she came on for the last 23 minutes as she collected her maiden cap.
Brazil took a 1-0 first half lead against Argentina courtesy of a Marta penalty kick. Debinha was then on target early in the second half as Pia Sundhage’s side claimed a two-goal advantage. Adriana fired in a third Brazil goal before Mariana Larroquette pulled a goal back for Argentina.
With the clock ticking down, Manchester United forward Ivana’s chances of a senior debut were shortening but she was finally brought on in the 67th minute, a moment that she will undoubtedly never forget.
Brazil went on to end the match 4-1 winners with substitute Geyse netting the final goal of the game eight minutes from time.
Sundhage’s side will now face tournament hosts the United States in their second match on Sunday evening.
