On loan Reading midfielder Jess Fishlock will return to parent club OL Reign following the April international window with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club having opted to take up the option of ending the arrangement on 5 April.
The Welsh international joined Reading on loan from OL Reign back in August and the player has been in impressive form for The Royals.
The move provided Fishlock with the opportunity to rebuild her fitness after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury back in 2019. The midfielder has featured in every Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture for Reading so far this season while she has contributed two goals.
OL Reign have today confirmed via their official club website that Fishlock’s time at The Madejski Stadium will come to an end on 5 April. The player will then represent the Welsh national team before returning to the United States at the end of camp. The decision to recall Fishlock in early April has largely been driven due to COVID-19 challenges including the allowance for a period of quarantine.
Fishlock is set to be available for Reading’s next four Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches before she will say her goodbyes to everyone associated with the club.
