Manchester City full-back Demi Stokes has signed a new two-year deal with the club according to reports on The Cityzens’ official website.
The 29-year-old South Shields-born defender has been with the club for the last six years and she has played a big part in City’s successes as a full-time professional outfit.
Despite the arrival of fellow England international left-back Alex Greenwood from Lyon last August, Stoke remains an integral part of the City squad and the club have moved to retain the player’s services until summer 2023.
Stokes has struggled with injury since Christmas but it is hoped that she will soon be back to full fitness. The defender has made seven appearances for City in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League which has included six starts. Stokes was a member of the City side which defeated Everton 3-1 after extra-time in last season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
During her time at The Academy Stadium, Stokes has won the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, two Vitality Women’s FA Cups and three FA Women’s Continental League Cups. She could yet add the UEFA Women’s Champions League to that tally should the club prove to be successful in this season’s competition.
