Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger has been named in the Austrian squad for next month’s international friendly fixture against Finland.
The Austrian Football Association, the OFB, announced head coach Irene Fuhrmann’s 25-player squad earlier today with Arsenal keeper Zinsberger included.
The game will provide both nations with some good preparation for next year’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 with both teams having successfully qualified for the tournament finals. Austria qualified as one of the best runners-up from the group stage while Finland won their group.
Arsenal keeper Zinsberger returns to the Austrian squad after missing the nation’s February friendly fixtures against Sweden and Slovakia in the Visit Malta Women’s Trophy due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. The 25-year-old is aiming to collect her 67th senior international cap against Finland this month. She is the most experienced of the three goalkeepers in the Austrian squad with the other two players having just one cap between them.
Austria’s international friendly against Finland is scheduled to take place on Sunday 11 April. The match will be staged at the Ritzinger Sonnenseestadion in Ritzing.
Goalkeeper Zinsberger’s club have three key games to play before the player jets off for international duty. The Gunners host Manchester United at Meadow Park this evening before travelling to Tottenham Hotspur and Bristol City.
