PREVIEW: Bristol City v Arsenal

Bristol City will hope to continue their great escape when they welcome European hopefuls Arsenal to Twerton Park on Easter Sunday.

The Robins were five points adrift at the bottom of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table just a couple of months ago but now find themselves as high as 10th. The great escape under stand-in boss Matt Beard certainly looks to be on.

Bristol City boss Beard will again be without long-term absentees Jas Matthews and Megan Wynne while Meaghan Sergeant has recently returned to training but is thought to still be a way away from full fitness.

Arsenal head coach Joe Montemurro announced in midweek that he will be leaving the club at the end of next month to return home to Australia. He will oversee a maximum of seven fixtures before his departure.

Montemurro again has injury concerns to contend with this weekend. Defenders Jen Beattie and Steph Catley remain sidelined alongside midfielder Viktoria Schnaderbeck and forward Lisa Evans. The current condition of goalkeeper Fran Stenson is unknown, although she may not make the matchday squad even if she is fit.

Bristol City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Arsenal is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm tomorrow afternoon and will be available for fans to stream live on the FA Player.
