West Ham United boss Olli Harder says that his side put on ‘a relatively good performance’ as they drew 0-0 with Aston Villa at Villa Park yesterday.
The Hammers created the more chances over the course of the 90 minutes but they were again guilty of some wayward finishing at the end of what has been a frustrating campaign in-front of the opposition goal for the East Londoners.
Speaking in the post-match press conference in which FAWSL Full-Time were present, Harder said “I am wondering how we didn’t win that match.
“It has been the tale of our season a little bit, just not effective enough in-front of goal. The performance levels were good, I wasn’t happy with a couple of moments where we had to be saved by our goalkeeper who came up big but other than that, it was a relatively good performance from us.”
West Ham United have one of the smallest playing squads in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Harder went on to praise his side for grinding out another result in difficult circumstances.
“It is no secret that we have a thin squad,” Harder added. “I am really pleased with the effort, the energy, the intensity and the quality that they have shown.
“As I said, it was a pretty good performance, one of our better ones, we just didn’t have the icing on the cake.”
West Ham United complete the 2020/2021 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season with a fixture against title-chasing Manchester City at The Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday.
