Arsenal midfielder Jill Roord is rumoured to be a summer transfer target for VfL Wolfsburg according to reports by German media outlet SportBuzzer.
The 24-year-old Dutch international has enjoyed a successful season with The Gunners in which she has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 18 outings in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Roord is believed to be under contract at Meadow Park until next summer, however, press reports in Germany have suggested that the player is on the radar of FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg. Stephan Lerch’s side exited the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the quarter-final stage this season while their grasp on the domestic title seems to be loosening. With the club keen to regain some growth, it is being reported that Arsenal midfielder Roord is one of the players being earmarked for a move to the German club this summer, although the She-Wolves have declined to comment on the speculation.
The midfielder started her career back in her homeland with FC Twente where she won four championships and the KNVB Women’s Cup. In 2017, Roord joined Bayern Munich where she spent two years before moving to current club Arsenal in summer 2019. The player has scored nine goals in 32 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for The Gunners.
Roord was a UEFA Women’s EURO winner with The Netherlands in 2017 while she was a runner-up with The Orange Lionesses at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France two years later.
