Sheffield United head coach Redfearn signs new two-year deal

Sheffield United have confirmed that head coach Neil Redfearn has agreed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 55-year-old took over at The Technique Stadium last summer following the departure of former Blades boss Carla Ward and he has guided Sheffield United to a fourth-place finish in the season’s FA Women’s Championship.

Sheffield United have long term ambitions of being in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and head coach Redfearn has today provided the South Yorkshire club with a real boost by signing a new two-year contract.

The Blades announced the deal in a post on their official club website earlier today.

It has been reported that Redfearn’s backroom team will also remain in place for next season while he will be assisted by Luke Turner, a coach who has worked with the first team this season. The club will also bring in a new strength and conditioning coach in the form of Adam Kennerley.

Redfearn has taken charge of Sheffield United on 24 occasions this season and has recorded 13 wins. The Blades have one fixture remaining in 2020/2021 which comes in the form of a Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round fixture at Tottenham Hotspur in 10 days’ time.

The West Yorkshireman is set to complete his first full season in the women’s game following previous short stays with Doncaster Rovers Belles and Liverpool.
