Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Megan Walsh has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The 26-year-old Bromsgrove-born stopper joined Albion in summer 2019 and has made the first choice goalkeeping jersey her own.
Brighton & Hove Albion have today issued an official club press release confirming Walsh’s contract extension. The player has now committed her services to the Sussex club until summer 2023.
Walsh has made 30 appearances for Albion in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League since joining the club. She has kept 10 clean sheets in those matches. The former Aston Villa, Everton and Yeovil Town goalkeeper has successfully seen off some strong competition from Norwegian international Cecilie Fiskerstrand this season to retain a regular starting place in the side.
Speaking to Albion’s official media sources after signing her new deal, Walsh said “I’m delighted to sign this new contract and hopefully, I can help the club go from strength-to-strength.
“We’ve had some great results in recent weeks and we’re looking to finish the season strongly. The team spirit is fantastic and I love working with the squad every day, especially the goalkeepers in our group.
“Moving into our own training facilities later in the year will be another big step forward and I look forward to being part of Brighton’s journey towards becoming a top four club in the WSL.”
Walsh will hope to be given another opportunity to impress for the Albion when they face Bristol City at The People’s Pension Stadium on Sunday.
