Experienced midfielder Danielle Lane’s six-season spell with FA Women’s Championship club Lewes has come to an end.
Lane joined The Rookettes from Worthing Minors in 2014 and she has since helped the club to establish themselves in the second tier of the women’s game.
In her six years with Lewes, Lane has brought consistency, dependability and even a few goals to the team. She has been a popular figure amongst her teammates and with the fans.
As the season comes to a close, Lewes have today confirmed that the 2020/2021 campaign was to be Lane’s last with the club and she will now move on. The Rookettes announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account this afternoon.
We can announce that Dani Lane has left Lewes FC.
Dani was our longest serving player spending six seasons at the club. She has been an integral member of the club & will be missed by all.

A member of the Lewes side which jumped up into the FA Women’s Championship in 2018/2019, Lane has never looked out of place playing her football at that level. She has been a regular in the Lewes side throughout their time in second tier. The midfielder has represented Lewes on 47 occasions in the FA Women’s Championship, scoring three goals. Lane netted on her farewell appearance for the Sussex side earlier this month as they went down 2-1 to Crystal Palace at Hayes Lane.
