Former Liverpool and Leicester City midfielder Simran Jhamat is the latest departure to be announced by Lewes.
The 20-year-old England youth international joined The Rookettes last summer following a spell with their FA Women’s Championship rivals Coventry United and she has gone on to become a regular in Simon Parker’s Lewes side.
Lewes have confirmed that Jhamat is their third summer departure. She follows midfield teammates Danielle Lane and Filippa Savva out of the exit door at The Dripping Pan. Lewes announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account earlier today.
We can announce that Simran Jhamat has departed Lewes.
Simran joined Lewes last summer and has been an important member of the squad. Simran’s late goal won three points against Blackburn Rovers.

Jhamat started out as a youth player with Liverpool and she went on to make her Barclays FA Women’s Super League debut for the Merseyside club in their 2-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2019. The midfielder appeared in The Reds’ next fixture against Yeovil Town but she soon left the club.
Upon leaving Liverpool, Jhamat joined Leicester City where the player would go on to make 12 league appearances across two seasons. The midfielder then moved to Coventry United in January 2020 before leaving the club following the curtailment of the 2019/2020 campaign due to COVID-19.
Jhamat has featured in 17 of latest club Lewes’ 20 fixtures in this season’s FA Women’s Championship, scoring one goal.
