Six Chelsea players have been named in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Squad of the Season 2020/2021.
The Blues reached the final for the first time and while they were defeated 4-0 by Barcelona in Gothenburg, the performances of some of the key squad members have been recognised by European football’s governing body UEFA.
UEFA have this morning unveiled their UEFA Women’s Champions League Squad of the Season 2020/2021 with six Chelsea players having been included. Those players are goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, defender Magda Eriksson, midfielder Sophie Ingle and attackers Pernille Harder, Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr.
Goalkeeper Berger featured in eight of Chelsea’s nine UEFA Women’s Champions League fixtures, keeping three clean sheets while captain Eriksson has contributed to three shutouts in her six outings.
Like Berger, midfielder Ingle has missed just one of Chelsea’s European ties, providing some impressive performances along the way while forwards Harder, Kirby and Kerr have contributed 13 goals throughout this season’s competition along with numerous assists.
Manchester City midfielder Sam Mewis has also been named in the squad following her strong performances in her debut season in the competition.
