Defenders Nicola Cousins and Sophie O’Rourke have signed new contracts with Lewes for next season.
The pair have been regulars for The Rookettes this season with Cousins missing just four games and teammate O’Rourke being the only ever-present in the Lewes side.
With goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders and defender Rhian Cleverly having signed new deals with Lewes on Friday, the club yesterday announced the news that Cousins and O’Rourke have also signed on the dotted line. The news was released via a post on the club’s official Twitter account.

Experienced Welsh international defender Cousins joined Lewes last year following a spell with Yeovil Town in which she played top flight football. Cousins has played her part in Lewes conceding just 22 goals in the FA Women’s Championship this season.
O’Rourke has brought versatility to Lewes since joining the club in their first season in the FA Women’s Championship in 2018/2019. The youngster is primarily a full-back but can slot into various other positions including in midfield. She came through the youth ranks at Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Reading and spent a brief period in Iceland before making The Dripping Pan her home.
Further news on contracts is expected to be announced by Lewes in due course while the club are sure to bring in new faces given the number of departures this summer.
