Chelsea wide player Jamie-Lee Napier is leaving the club after spending the last 18 months with The Blues.
The 21-year-old Glasgow-born winger, who can also operate in a full-back role, has struggled for game time at Kingsmeadow and was loaned to Chelsea’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Birmingham City during this season.
Chelsea confirmed news of Napier’s departure in a post on their official club website this morning.
In her time with the South West Londoners, Napier represented the club on two occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, both of which were appearances made from the bench. The player enjoyed more success whilst on loan at Birmingham City with Napier appearing in 19 of the club’s 21 league games across the season. She scored Birmingham City’s goal in their 1-1 draw at Everton in early February.
Commenting on Napier’s release, Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said “Jamie’s a young player and will continue to improve with regular game time. She has a bright future ahead and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.”
Chelsea have given Napier her first taste of football in England. The player started her career north of the border with Hibernian prior to her move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
