Liverpool’s 2020/2021 Standard Chartered Player of the Season Missy Bo Kearns has signed a new contract with the club according to reports on The Reds’ official website.
The 20-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a breakthrough season this year which has seen her represent the club on 15 occasions in the FA Women’s Championship while she has scored two goals.
With Kearns being one of the brightest young players on Liverpool’s books, it has today been confirmed that the midfielder has signed a contract extension at Prenton Park. The length of the Liverpudlian’s new deal has been left undisclosed by the club.
Kearns has come through the Liverpool academy system. She first appeared for the club at senior level in 2018/2019 when she made a small number of substitute appearances in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
After signing her new deal, Kearns said “It’s a dream come true to continue staying at the club, it’s a big honour for me. I just want to play for Liverpool and I’m over the moon.
“Individually, last year was my breakthrough season. I got the opportunity just after Christmas to showcase what I can do and I feel I took that chance.
“It still feels like yesterday I was in the Under-11s and I’ve taken it all day by day and just enjoyed each moment playing with a Liverpool shirt on.”
Kearns’ importance to the side has been further recognised with the player being awarded a new squad number for next season. The midfielder will swap the 21 shirt for the number seven in 2021/2022.
