Watford have confirmed their second signing of the summer after securing the signature of former London City Lionesses defender Ylenia Priest.
The news comes fresh off the back of Amber-Keegan Stobbs signing for The Golden Girls earlier this week and displays the ambition of Clinton Lancaster’s side coming into the new season.
Despite still only being 19 years of age, Priest already has a very impressive CV to go with her glut of experience. The teenager made her debut in the FA Women’s Championship at just 17 for the then-named Millwall Lionesses. She stayed on with the team following their rebrand to London City Lionesses and was named co-captain despite her young years.
Priest made seven appearances for the Lionesses this season as they conceded just 19 goals in FA Women’s Championship. She was involved in the matchday squad for all 20 of the club’s league fixtures.
The defender will be entering her fourth campaign in the FA Women’s Championship before she has hit the age of 20, however, she will now be doing it in the gold and black of Watford.
Following their promotion to the FA Women’s Championship, The Golden Girls have been busy in their recruitment. With the additions of Stobbs and Priest, manager Lancaster is clearly targeting players with second tier experience who will no doubt be crucial assets in what is likely to be a tricky season for the Hertfordshire club.
