Champions League winner Losada joins Manchester City

Manchester City have announced that they have completed the signing of UEFA Women’s Champions League winner Vicky Losada on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old joined The Cityzens on a free transfer after leaving former club Barcelona at the end of her contract. She captained the Catalan club to a 4-0 UEFA Women’s Champions League final victory over Chelsea in Gothenburg in May.

Losada has previously spent most of her career with Barcelona spread across fourth separate spells. She made well over a century of appearances for the Spanish giants prior to her departure earlier this summer.

In addition to lifting the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the midfielder is a six-time Spanish league title winner and she also has seven Copa de la Reina winners’ medals to her name. The player is already known to fans of the English game after spending two seasons at Arsenal back in 2015 and 2016.

After joining Manchester City, Losada said “I’m so excited for next season and to have been able to join one of the best clubs in the world.

“As soon as I had the offer from Manchester City, I didn’t have any doubts about it – I knew that it was time to leave Barcelona and close that chapter of my career after one of the best years of my life.

“I’ve always said that I missed the English league – I feel like it brings out the best in me as a player. I am so excited to return to it now and be a part of this fantastic football club.”

Losada is Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor’s third signing of the summer with the club having already acquired the services of Ruby Mace and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw.
