Former Arsenal midfielder Ava Kuyken has joined FA Women’s Championship club Bristol City according to reports on The Robins’ official website.
The 20-year-old made her senior debut for Arsenal at just 16 years of age before later spending time in the United States with University of Florida side Florida Gators.
Kuyken recently completed a Division 1 collegiate soccer scholarship with The Gators and she has joined Bristol City upon her return to England.
After signing for Bristol City, Kuyken said “I’m excited to get going with Bristol City Women ahead of the new season.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to return to club football in England and gain valuable experience at senior level in the Championship, which will be great for my development.
“Lauren (Smith) has been clear in what she wants to achieve this season and how she sees me contributing to the team – it’s a challenge I’m very much up for.”
After coming through the youth ranks at former club Arsenal, Kuyken made 10 first team appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Super League. Her only league start came as The Gunners won 3-0 at Reading in early 2019.
Kuyken is the second signing of the day for Bristol City who announced the capture of Cardiff Met midfielder Chloe O’Connor this morning.
