Former Bristol City pair Rafferty and Wilson agree deals with new clubs

Former Bristol City pair Laura Rafferty and Georgia Wilson have today agreed moves to new clubs.

Northern Irish international Rafferty has agreed a move to Southampton after spending last season on loan at Bristol City from parent club Brighton & Hove Albion while youngster Wilson will resume her career in Denmark with AaB Kinder.

Southampton confirmed their swoop for Rafferty via their official website this afternoon. The player joins the club on a free transfer after being released by Brighton & Hove Albion. Rafferty returns to her home city and the club where she spent her youth. The 25-year-old was forced to move on in the early days of her career with Southampton not having a senior women’s team at that time but she has now returned to help The Saints progress further up the footballing pyramid following their promotion to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

After leaving Bristol City at the end of her contract, Rafferty’s former teammate Wilson also saw her next club confirmed today with the player moving to Danish side AaB Kvinder, as reported on their official club website. Wilson was regularly named amongst The Robins substitutes last season and she will now look to kick on playing in the Danish game.

Bristol City have today started their own squad-building for the new season with the signings of Chloe O’Connor and Ava Kuyken.
