Manchester City defender Dahlkemper features as the United States defeat Mexico

Manchester City defender Abby Dahlkemper played the full 90 minutes for the United States as they defeated Mexico 4-0 in East Hartford last night.

The fixture formed part of the United States’ Send-Off Series for the Olympic Games in Japan with Vlatko Andonovski’s side also having beaten the same opposition by the same scoreline on Friday.

Manchester City defender Dahlkemper had little to do throughout the 90 minutes with the American goal being troubled on just two occasions and with the United States having the vast majority of the ball. The game saw Dahlkemper claim her 16th consecutive clean sheet for her country, a run which goes back to the 2020 SheBelieves Cup when the United States were breached by Japan.

Lindsey Horan opened the scoring for the United States against Mexico after just six minutes before Carli Lloyd soon added a second. Mexican full-back Reyna Reyes then put through her own net before Tobin Heath rounded-off the scoring after 39 minutes, scoring in consecutive games since coming back from injury.

The United States begin their participation at the Olympic Games’ Women’s Football Tournament against Sweden on 21 July. They then take on New Zealand on 24 July before ending their group campaign against Australia on 27 July.
