Bristol City forward Charlie Wellings has completed a move to Glasgow giants Celtic according to reports on the Scottish Women’s Premier League club’s official website.
The 23-year-old Walsall-born forward was a member of the Bristol City side which battled bravely against relegation last season before losing their fight in May.
Wellings netted two goals in 20 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for The Robins, both of those strikes came in March as Bristol City battled to keep their survival hopes alive going into the business end of the season.
With Bristol City now set to play their football in the second tier this season, it has today been confirmed that forward Wellings has completed a move to Celtic. The player joins a Hoops side who are set to enjoy their first taste of UEFA Women’s Champions League football this term.
After joining Celtic, Wellings said “The ambition of the club is definitely going in the right direction and I feel like it’s a fresh start for me, coming into a team that wants to win every game from one who didn’t do so well last year.
“I think its a great opportunity for me to come away and get to know the girls here and crack on and try and score as many goals as I can.”
Wellings is a former England youth international with the player having represented The Young Lionesses up to Under-21 level. While she has not yet made it into the senior team, Wellings has real potential and she could make a big impact north of the border with her new club.
