Republic of Ireland international keeper Brosnan joins Everton

Everton have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan on a one-year deal according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.

The 25-year-old New Jersey-born stopper moves to Walton Hall Park after recently leaving Everton’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals West Ham United.

Brosnan spent two years with The Hammers in which she made 16 appearances for the club in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

After completing her move to Everton, Brosnan said “I’m really excited to be here and to take this next step forward in my career. The WSL is one of the top leagues in the world and I have really enjoyed being here for the past two years and I wanted to continue to play in this league.

“Everton is a great Club with a lot of ambition to reach the top of the league so I’m looking forward to working with the team. It’s amazing to be part of a Club that is continuing to grow and striving to be better to reach new heights.”

Brosnan replaces Finnish international goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela at Walton Hall Park with the player having moved on at the end of last season. Brosnan will compete with England international keeper Sandy MacIver for the number one jersey this season.

Everton manager Willie Kirk has now made six summer signings, although his recruitment may not yet be complete.
