Highly-rated full-back Asmita Ale has left Aston Villa after opting against signing a new contract according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 19-year-old England youth international defender had been with the club for 11 years and she signed her first professional deal last year. Ale is thought to have been offered a new contract by Aston Villa at the end of last season but it has today been confirmed that the player has left The Banks’s Stadium after declining the opportunity to stay on at the club.
Ale first broke into the Aston Villa senior team during the 2017/2018 FA Women’s Super League 2 season. The player went on to feature for the club more regularly during the two campaigns which followed. Ale helped Aston Villa to secure promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in the curtailed 2019/2020 season.
The youngster made 18 appearances for Villa in their first season as a Barclays FA Women’s Super League club, however, Ale has deemed it to be the right time to move on.
Ale becomes the ninth player to leave Villa this summer. Head coach Carla Ward could opt to dip back into the transfer market to sign a replacement for the defender.
