Manchester United goalkeeper Ramsey loaned to Birmingham City

Manchester United goalkeeper Emily Ramsey has joined Birmingham City on loan according to reports on the Blues’ official website.

The 20-year-old Salford-born stopper is yet to represent The Red Devils in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League but is rated highly by the club.

Ramsey has been loaned to Sheffield United and West Ham United over the course of the last couple of seasons and it has today been confirmed that the player has completed a third loan move, this time to Birmingham City.

After signing on with the Blues, Ramsey said “I’m really excited. There’s an exciting season coming up and I’m just happy to be here and to get going with the girls.

“Blues have got an exciting team and a new Head Coach who I am excited to work with. It’s going to be good going forward in the season.

“I would like to say I have got a good presence and I would like to say I am good at shot-stopping.”

Ramsey was given some game time by parent club Manchester United in last season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup. She played in the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool before coming out victorious in a penalty shootout victory over Manchester City.

Manchester United have confirmed that Ramsey signed a two-year contract extension with the club before completing her loan move to St Andrew’s.
