Manchester United continue their preparations for the new season when they face Rangers in a pre-season friendly this evening.
The Red Devils face their Scottish Women’s Premier League opponents at the Rangers Training Centre with Manchester United fans having the first opportunity to watch their side live since the Coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020.
Rangers go into the match having been defeated 4-1 by Chelsea in a pre-season friendly a week ago. Malky Thomson’s side have already started their domestic season, beating Queens Park and Motherwell heavily in the SWPL Cup.
Attacking pair Lizzie Arnot and Jane Ross could take to the field for Rangers against their former club this evening while Manchester United fans will know about midfielder Tessel Middag from her previous spells with Manchester City and West Ham United. Forward Zoe Ness scored for Durham in their 3-1 victory over Manchester United in The Red Devils’ FA Women’s Championship title-winning season in 2018/2019.
Manchester United could again be without forward Alessia Russo in Dunbartonshire this evening as she continues to build up her fitness following injury while the condition of midfielder Hayley Ladd is unknown after she pulled out of last weekend’s pre-season victory against Aston Villa at Carrington. Scotland international Kirsty Hanson will be hoping to continue her fine pre-season form north of the border with the player having been involved in every Manchester United goal in pre-season so far.
The pre-season friendly between Rangers and Manchester United kicks-off at 5pm and will be available for fans to stream live on both clubs’ media channels. The game is all-ticket, however, a number of tickets remain on sale on Rangers’ ticketing portal.
