Leicester City confirm capture of former Birmingham City midfielder Scofield

Leicester City have confirmed the signing of former Birmingham City midfielder Connie Scofield according to reports on the club’s official website.

The 22-year-old Londoner joins Jonathan Morgan’s Foxes on a free transfer after recently leaving former club Birmingham City.

Scofield was one of 13 players offered a contract extension by the Blues at the end of last season but she opted to decline the club’s offer in favour of a fresh challenge.

Speaking after sealing her move to Leicester City, Scofield said “It’s pretty amazing really and I’m just so excited to be here. When Leicester came in, I was over the moon. It was a big decision, but it just felt right.”

Scofield spent 13 years on the books at former club Birmingham City after joining the club at the age of nine. She made her senior debut for the Blues during the 2016 season. The midfielder made 10 appearances in all competitions in a Birmingham City shirt last season.

The youngster becomes Leicester City boss Morgan’s seventh signing of the summer. She is the third player from Birmingham City’s 2020/2021 squad to join The Foxes. She follows Georgia Brougham and Abbi Grant to the East Midlands.

Scofield could make her Leicester City debut at Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.
