Aston Villa sign former Birmingham City attacker Littlejohn

Aston Villa have completed the signing of former Birmingham City attacker Ruesha Littlejohn on a short term contract according to reports on the club’s official website.

The 31-year-old much-travelled forward recently left the Blues after opting against signing a new deal with the club. The player had spent the second half of last season with Birmingham City.

It has today been confirmed that Littlejohn has joined Birmingham City’s Second City rivals Aston Villa. She becomes the third former Birmingham City player to join Carla Ward’s Villains this summer with goalkeeper Hannah Hampton and defender Sarah Mayling having also moved to The Banks’s Stadium. Littlejohn made 11 league appearances for Ward when the pair were at Birmingham City last season.

After securing the services of the player, Aston Villa head coach Ward said “When we heard Ruesha became available it was a no-brainer.

“She’s an experienced head who drives standards, and having worked with her last season I know the sort of quality she can bring on and off the field.

“She’s settled in well and has quickly become an important figure amongst the group.”

Littlejohn could be included in the Aston Villa squad on Saturday when they take on Leicester City at The Banks’s Stadium.
