Arsenal complete the signing of former Manchester United forward Heath

Arsenal have completed the signing of former Manchester United forward Tobin Heath on a free transfer according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.

The 33-year-old attacker is a twice-crowned FIFA Women’s World Cup and Olympic Gold Medal winner with the United States while she was named the US Soccer Female Athlete of the Year back in 2016. Heath has been capped by her country on 177 occasions while she has netted 35 goals for The Stars and Stripes.

At club level, Heath was a three-time NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship winner with North Carolina Tar Heels at the start of her career while she later went on to win two National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) championships with Portland Thorns.

Heath spent last season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with Manchester United. The player netted four goals in eight league outings for The Red Devils before injury brought a premature end to her career at The Leigh Sports Village.

After securing Heath’s services, Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall said “Tobin’s record speaks for itself. She’s an incredibly talented player who will bring so much experience to our squad. This is an exciting time for the club, and I’m delighted we could secure Tobin’s signing as we prepare to kick off the new season at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.”

Arsenal have handed Heath the number 77 shirt, the same number that she wore at former club Manchester United.
