Arsenal and Chelsea will look to begin their respective bids for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title when they meet at The Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners have strengthened significantly over the summer with some impressive signings and they could push Chelsea and Manchester City much harder for the title this year than they have in the last two seasons.
Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall is again set to be without Viktoria Schnaderbeck, Lia Wälti and Jordan Nobbs through injury. The Gunners signed United States international forward Tobin Heath on Friday, however, she will be unavailable with her international clearance yet to come through.
New Chelsea assistant coach Tanya Oxtoby will be in the dugout for the very first time at The Emirates Stadium after being appointed into her role on Friday. Manager Emma Hayes is thought to have no new injury concerns to contend with, Norwegian international defender Maren Mjelde remains sidelined as she continues to rebuild her fitness following her knee surgery from last season.
