Arsenal defender Simone Boye Sørensen has pulled out of the Denmark squad due to injury.
The 29-year-old centre-back was expected to link-up with the Danes next week ahead of their opening FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifiers against Malta and Azerbaijan, however, it has been confirmed that the player has sustained an injury.
The Danish Football Association, The DBU, announced Sørensen’s withdrawal from the squad via a post on their official association Twitter page earlier today. Sørensen has been replaced by Turbine Potsdam defender Karen Holmgaard in Lars Søndergaard’s Danish squad.
Simone Boye må desværre melde afbud til Kvindelandsholdets to kommende VM-kval-kampe grundet en skade.
I stedet udtages Karen Holmgaard fra Turbine Potsdam.

Full details of Sørensen’s injury have not been disclosed, however, the player will now also miss her club’s next two games against Slavia Prague tomorrow night in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and against Reading in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Sørensen joined Arsenal from Bayern Munich in the summer and the player has featured in three of The Gunners’ opening four matches in all competitions. She was most recently in action on Sunday as she came off the bench to feature in Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Chelsea at The Emirates Stadium. Sørensen completed that match therefore it can only be assumed that her injury has come on the training pitch in the last 48 hours.
