Tottenham Hotspur boss Skinner relives teenage sorcery of birthday girl Naz

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Rehanne Skinner has celebrated forward Jessica Naz’s 21st birthday by revealing that the player once fancied herself as a sorceress.

Naz’s creativity and pace causes many moments of magic on the pitch but the player has also played a starring role in creating some sorcery off the pitch.

Ahead of this weekend’s home fixture against Reading, Spurs boss Skinner revealed one of her favourite moments from the past when in the presence of birthday girl Naz. Skinner revealed that the player had developed a very special skill during her time representing England at youth level.

“She’s quite a quiet one Jess until she gets on her TikTok or something like that,” Skinner told FAWSL Full-Time. “One story that makes me laugh is when we were with England a few years back, she was a key instigator in creating a video that was a team video. It was of that Matilda soundtrack where she makes things move, doors are opening and shutting, sheets are going up in the air and whatever, she was a key instigator in creating one of them and it is still to this day one of the best videos that I have seen.

“She was sacking people because their hands were in the shot, she was brutal.”

On a more serious note, Skinner went on to highlight the talent that Naz possesses and the Spurs boss believes that the best is yet to come from the player.

The Spurs boss said “She has got a quiet confidence on the pitch that is growing and growing. I have always recognised a huge amount of potential in Jess. The injury obviously set her back 14 months and I don’t think that people have seen the best of her.

“I’ve got every confidence that if she carries on going the way that she is going with us and with some of the things that she is doing, gaining more experience in the WSL….she is still young and has loads of space to grow.

“We are hoping to keep moving her forward in the right direction and she has some fairly decent goal celebrations as well, hopefully we will see a few more of them.”

Naz will be hoping to celebrate her 21st birthday with a goal when Spurs take on Reading at The Hive on Sunday.
