PREVIEW: Arsenal v Manchester City

Arsenal will be hoping to maintain their perfect start in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League when Manchester City are the visitors to Meadow Park this evening.

The Gunners have beaten both Chelsea and Reading in their opening games while new head coach Jonas Eidevall has won six out of six in all competitions.

Tobin Heath could make her long-awaited Arsenal debut this evening almost a month on from signing for the club. Head coach Eidevall looks to have arguably the biggest squad available to him so far this season with only Simone Boye Sørensen and Malin Gut expected to be missing. Midfielders Jordan Nobbs and Viktoria Schnaderbeck could return following lengthy absences.

There is little let up in the injury crisis at Manchester City with a whole host of players sitting on the sidelines. Caroline Weir is expected to make her comeback while Keira Walsh in also closing in on a return to fitness but the list of casualties includes Ellie Roebuck, Karen Bardsley, Lucy Bronze, Steph Houghton, Esme Morgan, Alex Greenwood, Hayley Raso and Chloe Kelly. Head coach Gareth Taylor could hand a debut to young defender Ruby Mace against her former club.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 6.45pm and will be screened live on Sky Sports Football.
