Chelsea defender Magda Eriksson says that Swedish national team colleague Lina Hurtig has the qualities to hurt the Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions.
Eriksson’s Chelsea side face Hurtig’s Juventus in Turin on Wednesday evening in their second UEFA Women’s Champions League group fixture.
Eriksson has grown up alongside Hurtig in the Swedish national team and she highlighted the forward’s qualities when speaking in the pre-match press conference.
“I have seen her grow from being a young player and I have played with her for a long time,” Eriksson told FAWSL Full-Time. “Lina has got some top, top qualities, she is of the highest international level. Her heading is amazing, she can head the ball really well and she is good with both feet, she is quick, she is strong.
“She will definitely be a threat to us and they have a couple of other top international players too that could hurt us if we are not ready.”
With Eriksson having spent lots of time in the Swedish squad with Hurtig, you would expect her to be prepared for the Juventus forward. The Chelsea captain went on to say that planning for Hurtig’s threat is not that simple with the player being very determined to succeed.
She added “I know her but I also know that it doesn’t matter if you know Lina Hurtig really well, if she wants to get past you, she’s going to do it when she’s at her best.
“I’m going to talk to some of the girls and tell them how she is and help them in that sense, we also look at individual clips as well. She’s a top player.”
The UEFA Women’s Champions League group fixture between Juventus and Chelsea kicks-off at 8pm on Wednesday evening and will be available to stream live on DAZN.
