Liverpool have this morning released a statement revealing that goalkeeper Rylee Foster has been involved in a road traffic accident.
It has been reported that the incident happened last weekend while Foster was visiting friends. The player was hospitalised but is expected to return to her club in the coming days to be assessed by medical staff. Full details of Foster’s injuries have been left undisclosed and it is unknown whether she will face a spell on the sidelines.
The 23-year-old Canadian international joined Liverpool in January 2020 and she has made a really positive impression in her time on Merseyside despite being made to fight hard for the club’s goalkeeping jersey. Foster has made nine appearances for The Reds in all competitions and has shown real promise every time she has pulled on a Liverpool shirt.
Foster has made three appearances for Liverpool in all competitions so far this season. The player was most recently in action as The Reds defeated Aston Villa 5-4 on penalty kicks in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup last week after the two sides had battled out a 1-1 draw in normal time at Prenton Park.
The keeper was handed her first call-up to the senior Canadian national team in January and head coach Bev Priestman has earmarked Foster as a future number one.
The FAWSL Full-Time team send our best wishes to the player and we wish her a swift recovery.
