PREVIEW: Charlton Athletic v Sunderland

Charlton Athletic and Sunderland will hope to return to winning ways in the FA Women’s Championship when they meet at The Oakwood on Sunday.

Both clubs lost their last league matches by 2-0 scorelines with Charlton Athletic going down at Lewes and Sunderland losing their home North East derby against Durham.

Charlton Athletic forward Lauren Bruton remains sidelined as she continues to recover from an injury, although the player is making good progress. Defender Becky Jane has missed this month’s action through injury but is thought to be closing in on a return while the condition of Rachel Newborough and Mia Ross is unknown with the pair having missed the Lewes game.

Sunderland manager Melanie Reay is likely to make a couple of changes to her side following the 4-2 penalty shootout victory at Sheffield United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup last time out. Claudia Moan, Jessica Brown and Keira Ramshaw are those players who seem set to return to the line-up. Charlotte Potts missed the Sheffield United game with a knock which isn’t thought to be serious while Grace McCatty could return to the squad.
