Watford will be seeking their first points of the season when Crystal Palace are the visitors to Vicarage Road on Sunday.
It was looking positive for The Golden Girls last time out in the FA Women’s Championship when they took the lead at London City Lionesses with 25 minutes remaining, however, a quick turnaround from the hosts resulted in a sixth defeat out of six for Clinton Lancaster’s side this campaign.
Three weeks on from that fixture and Watford have had a chance to get some players back following injury. Manager Lancaster has revealed that central defender Renée Hector is one of those nearing fitness with the player having been out of action since October 2020 with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The game has personal importance to Lancaster with the Watford boss coming up against his former club.
Crystal Palace have had a mixed record so far this season with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their opening six games. However, they went into the international break unbeaten in three in all competitions and currently sit in seventh place in the table, which is the same position where they finished last season. Manager Dean Davenport will be keen to collect another three points before league leaders Durham come to town next weekend.
One to watch is wide player Siobhan Wilson who has been on the scoresheet for Crystal Palace at Liverpool and at Coventry United in recent weeks.
The FA Women’s Championship fixture between Watford and Crystal Palace kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are still available online and can be purchased by clicking here.
