Strong second half performance helps Arsenal reach Vitality Women’s FA Cup final

Arsenal are into another Vitality Women’s FA Cup final after a strong second half performance helped them to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 in their semi-final tie at Meadow Park this evening.

The visitors held Jonas Eidevall’s side to a goalless first half but Kim Little, Beth Mead and Leah Williamson all found the back of the net in the second period for the North Londoners as they secured their place at Wembley.

The first half saw visiting keeper Megan Walsh save well from Caitlin Foord while Nikita Parris saw her goal-bound effort cleared off the line by Victoria Williams.

Arsenal took the lead five minutes into the second half when Mead cleverly drove her way into the Brighton & Hove Albion box before teeing up Little to score from close range.

Mead soon got her own name on the scoresheet when she started an Arsenal move in her own half before receiving the ball back and firing a shot low into the bottom corner from close range.

Jordan Nobbs then saw a shot superbly saved by Brighton & Hove Albion keeper Walsh before Arsenal keeper Manuela Zinsberger was equal to an Emma Koivisto effort at the other end.

Williamson completed the scoring 14 minutes from time when she fired the ball home following a corner kick from the right.

Arsenal will now face Chelsea in the 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday 5 December.
