PREVIEW: Arsenal v West Ham United

Arsenal will be hoping to continue their winning start in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League when West Ham United are the visitors to Meadow Park this evening.

The Gunners are the only side to have won five games out of five this season and they are making a real statement of intent under the guidance of new head coach Jonas Eidevall.

Arsenal go into the match without long term absentee Malin Gut but otherwise, head coach Eidevall could have a virtually fully-fit squad available to him. The only question mark could be around Austrian captain Viktoria Schnaderbeck who has been suffering with a muscular injury. She is unlikely to be risked unless fully recovered.

Star striker Vivianne Miedema should back into the side after being rested for the 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-finals last week while Tobin Heath and Lotte Wubben-Moy could also come back into contention for starting spots. Eidevall’s starting XI could be impacted by Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture against HB Køge.

West Ham United arrive in Boreham Wood having made significant strides forward under manager Olli Harder so far this season. The Hammers will not be able to call upon the services of Arsenal loanee Lisa Evans as she is ineligible to face her parent club while youngster Maisy Barker remains sidelined with injury.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and West Ham United kicks-off at 6.45pm.
