‘Everyone is equally as important’ – Captain Eriksson hails Chelsea’s squad game

Chelsea captain Magda Eriksson says that she is delighted to see the full squad make the trip to Geneva for tomorrow night’s UEFA Women’s Champions League group fixture against Servette.

The Blues are virtually at full health with long term absentees Maren Mjelde and Lauren James now part of the group, although the pair may not feature in the game at the Stade de Genève.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Eriksson admitted that it is nice to have travelled to Switzerland as a complete squad whilst adding that there is equal responsibility on the shoulders of every player.

“We are finally travelling as a full squad this time, everyone is here, everyone is ready,” Eriksson said. “It’s so nice to see that everyone is being used and that everyone is equally as important as each other.

“Having a big squad, we know that we want to compete, we want to reach the end stage of every competition that we play in and so far, we have.

“Having that big squad is massive for us and is going to be so important in the long run. The season is so long, there are so many games left.”

A little over two months into the new season and Chelsea have already played 10 games. Commenting on the hectic schedule, Eriksson said that she has no complaints and it is simply a privilege to be in the position that she is in as a professional player.

She said “It’s a privilege, 100% a privilege, this is the level that people are aspiring towards.

“We are in a great position to play in every game, to compete, to travel a lot and we get to see Europe, it’s a privilege.”

The UEFA Women’s Champions League group fixture between Servette and Chelsea kicks-off at 5.45pm tomorrow night and will be available for fans to stream live on DAZN.
