Eidevall promises to make Arsenal fans proud ahead of North London derby

Jonas Eidevall has promised to make Arsenal fans proud on the eve of the first North London derby of the season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

The Gunners travel to The Hive to face neighbours Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday boasting a 100% winning record against them in league meetings.

New Arsenal boss Eidevall has set high standards since taking over at Meadow Park in the summer and the club have reaped the rewards, winning all six of their Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures so far this season. When speaking in his pre-match press conference, Eidevall said that Arsenal always expect high standards from their players when preparing for matches therefore the same approach will be taken in advance of the trip to Spurs.

“We know that it means a lot (a North London derby), there is a lot of pride going into the game,” Eidevall said. “To be honest, I want us to prepare for every game in the best way possible and if that’s the ambition, we can’t give more. We need to give that all of the time.

“I know how much it means for everyone and I know how much it means for us as a group. We will do everything in our power to put in as good a performance as possible on Saturday.”

The North London derby opens Women’s Football Weekend ’21. With a bumper crowd potentially set to attend the fixture, Eidevall has promised to make fans opting to watch Arsenal proud of supporting their team.

Speaking about Women’s Football Weekend ’21, he said “I think that audiences and fans are going to drive women’s football forward. Our ambitions should be very bold and brave about how many people we should aim to attract to our games.

“I think that the product that we have deserves a much greater audience and for all those who come to watch us play, we will make them very proud to be Arsenal supporters.”

The North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal is scheduled to kick-off at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon. Tickets are available to purchase by clicking here.
