Birmingham City sack head coach Booth after winless start to the season

Birmingham City have this evening confirmed that they have sacked head coach Scott Booth following their winless start to the season.

The Blues have collected one point from an available 21 in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League so far this season while they have lost all of their games in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Birmingham City have this evening released a club statement confirming that head coach Booth has been relieved of his duties. The Blues have indicated that the decision was a tough one to make but they have concluded that a change is needed given the recent results.

Booth was only appointed Birmingham City head coach in June and he signed a three-year deal with the club. He was tasked with overseeing virtually a full rebuild of the playing staff and the team has taken time to gel. While results have not been favourable, there have been a few encouraging performances and his St Andrew’s exit at such an early stage has come as a real shock.

It is understood that assistant head coach Tony Elliott while take charge of the team for Sunday’s trip to Chelsea while the club are expected to immediately begin their search for a permanent new head coach.
